CRIME STOPPERS SNOWBALL SOFTBALL TOURNAMENT MARCH 26 & 27

Manhattan Riley County Crime Stoppers is looking for Men's and CoRec softball teams to participate in the Snowball Softball Tournament on March 26th & 27th. Entry fee is $115 per team and are due March 19. If you have any questions or would like to register call 785-537-9797 (day) or 785-537-1108 (evening). Fees help support your local Crime Stoppers and to pay out rewards for your tips.

HOW IT WORKS

Call: Anyone who calls the Crime Stoppers hotline with information about a crime is given a code number. Callers do not have to identify themselves. They can just provide information. If the information given results in an arrest or warrant being issued, the caller may be eligible to receive a cash reward of up to $1,000. The hotline is answered on a 24-hour basis, and all collect calls are accepted.

Web Tips and SMS Text Tips: Both systems work in the same way. You initiate your tip (by text or by Web Tip). That tip is then encrypted and secured before being routed to a cloaking server that eliminates any personally identifiable information (IP address, cell phone number, etc.). From there your tip is then forwarded to a secure server where the information is formatted and assigned a unique ID number. The tip information is then transferred to our Crime Stoppers organization, tagged with your unique ID number only. The opportunity then exists for a dialogue as you can continue to provide additional tips regarding your initial case via your Web Tip ID number and password (which you select), or by continuing the text message exchange. We can also reply to these messages to solicit more information about your tip. To provide information about a new tip, simply restart the process. To stop the text message exchange, simply text "STOP". Our text message service is free, although your standard data/text rate charges from your cell phone company may apply.
